Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the Backtesting Lab, Discussion Forum, and Trading Simulator — in one place.
General
Getting Started
BRBStox is a platform for Indian market traders that brings three tools together:
a Backtesting Lab to test strategies on historical data, a
Discussion Forum to share and discuss ideas with other traders,
and a Trading Simulator to practice execution with virtual capital.
The goal is a complete trading process — test, discuss, practice — not random guesses.
Create a free account with your name, mobile number, and email. No demat account,
no KYC, and no card is required. One account gives you access to all three tools.
No. Everything on BRBStox is for education, practice, and simulation. No demat
account, broker account, or KYC is needed to use the platform.
No. The Trading Simulator uses virtual capital only. The Backtesting Lab runs on
historical data. The only real money involved is the optional subscription you pay
for the Backtesting Lab and/or Trading Simulator after your free trial.
No. BRBStox is for education, practice, simulation, and strategy testing only.
We do not provide investment advice, trading recommendations, guaranteed returns,
or buy/sell calls. Users should make their own decisions and understand the risks
of real market trading.
They form a repeatable process: backtest an idea in the Lab, discuss and refine it
in the Forum, then practice execution in the Simulator. You can use any tool on
its own, but together they cover testing, learning, and discipline.

Backtesting Lab
Test Before You Trust
The Backtesting Lab lets you replay historical market data and test trading ideas
without risking real money. It includes chart replay trading, 37 prebuilt options
strategies, custom baskets, and automated pattern testing.
Learn more.
All stocks, all indices, and stocks with derivatives (options and futures).
You can replay a stock directly, replay an index and trade its options or futures
via the advanced Options Trader, or replay a specific option or futures contract
with real recorded historical premiums.
Pick an instrument and a start date, then press play. The chart renders forward
candle by candle — speed it up or slow down as you like. Apply indicators, spot
your setup, and hit Buy or Sell. The chart pauses while you build your order
(MIS, quantity, stoploss, target). Hit Execute and the replay resumes. Your
Active Trades panel tracks P&L and auto-exits at your stoploss or target.
Industry-standard options strategies organised by four market scenarios:
Bullish, Bearish, Range Bound Bullish, and Range Bound Bearish. Pick a strategy,
select the parent instrument and expiry, set your test window with stoploss and
target, and hit Test. The system places every leg and runs the chart forward.
You can edit quantities and order types before testing.
Custom baskets let you build your own multi-leg strategies by combining stocks,
options, and futures. Each leg can be set as buy or sell with market or limit
orders. Save baskets to your account, attach notes, and re-test them across
different date windows and expiries.
Pick a chart pattern and let the system trade it automatically. Two modes:
test the pattern wherever it appears across the market, or test it on one
specific instrument. For index signals, choose how trades convert to options
(ITM, ATM, OTM with depth) or let the system pick the best-matching option.
A trailing stoploss moves your stoploss up (or down) every time the reference
price moves a set number of points in your favour. You can trail based on the
instrument itself (e.g. the option premium) or its parent (e.g. the underlying
index or stock).
Every session ends with a full summary: win rate, net P&L, margin used,
starting capital, end balance, and a complete trade log — whether you ran a
chart replay, strategy test, basket test, or pattern test.
No. A paid Backtesting Lab subscription includes unlimited tests — no daily
or monthly caps on chart replays, strategy tests, basket tests, or pattern tests.
Discussion Forum
Share, Discuss, Learn
Yes — free forever. No trial clock, no card, no catch. You get full access to
all boards, posting, following, and messaging as soon as you create your account.

No. The forum is actively moderated with clear rules: no buy/sell calls, no tips
selling, no paid groups, and no promises of guaranteed returns. It is a
learning-focused community where traders share analysis and experience — not orders.
Yes. You can share backtest session summaries, chart snapshots, and baskets
from the Backtesting Lab directly into posts. Other members can also clone
shared baskets into their own account and re-test them. Sharing is optional —
the forum is open for any kind of trading discussion.
Yes. There is a dedicated space for beginner questions, and every question gets
respect — not ridicule. You can mark the reply that solved your doubt so the next
person with the same question finds the answer quickly.
Yes. You can follow traders whose thinking you rate, get notified on replies
and mentions, and continue conversations in direct messages — all within the
platform.
Trading Simulator
Practice Without Risk
A realistic paper-trading environment where you practice buying and selling
stocks, options, and futures with virtual capital. It uses a tick-by-tick market
feed and a full order ticket — margins, stoplosses, targets, and more — so you
build execution discipline before trading with real money.
Learn more.
All stocks, options, and futures available in the Indian market. You can also
use the Options Trader to read an index and trade its options or futures in one click.
The simulator uses a tick-by-tick market feed delayed by one day. You experience
real market microstructure — spikes, breakouts, and ranges — as they actually
happened, tick for tick.
You start with ₹10 lakh in virtual money. You can top up your virtual capital
anytime by paying a small fee.
The simulator allows 10 trades per day. This is enough for focused daily practice
without encouraging overtrading.
Market, limit, and stop-limit orders. Product types include MIS (intraday) and
regular. You can set targets and stoplosses by price or percentage, use trailing
stoploss, size positions with a fixed quantity or auto-calculate from an amount
to use, and trade baskets with hedge margin benefits.
Options Trader, prebuilt options strategies, baskets, hedge trading, stocks screener,
index screener, sector screener, day-wise summary, and detailed trade reports.
Yes. The simulator calculates margins accurately before you place a trade,
including hedge benefits when you hold offsetting positions. This helps you
understand real capital requirements before going live.
